Tim was admitted to practise as a barrister and solicitor in 1977 after completing degrees in economics and law and obtaining a Diploma of Education at Monash University.
Tim taught economics, business and legal studies at Camberwell Grammar School in Melbourne for 10 years after which he practised as an employee solicitor with a Melbourne CBD legal firm for 6 years until March 1995. Tim is joint author of the legal texts 'Legal Studies for Year 11' (Published August, 1987) 'Without Prejudice' (VCE Legal Studies) (Published 1992) and 'Without Fear or Favour' (VCE Legal Studies) (Published 1993).
In addition to his being a principal of Compact and of the law firm Holley Nethercote Commercial Lawyers, Tim is a member of the Australian Institute of Training and Development, the Australian Life Underwriters and Claims Association, Australian Institute of Credit Management and the Financial Planning Association.
Tim is also a founding member and Associate of the Australasian Compliance Institute and has a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
In 2001, Tim completed an AMP Financial Services Competencies Program.
Tim is married to Jenny and has 2 adult children. His other interests outside work are reading, surfing, Australian football, travelling and camping.
