Ian made a great leap of faith from his familiar PR and marketing background to financial services in 2001, to take advantage of the law degree he was soon to complete as a part-time mature-age student.
Since that time Ian has held senior risk and compliance roles with two of Australia’s largest and most respected financial services operators before taking on a legal and compliance role at a boutique Melbourne investment manager. In 2006 he moved to a financial services law firm before settling on Holley Nethercote (and Compact) as his home away from home.
With many years experience running his own business helping clients across a variety of industries combined with his hands-on compliance and legal experience, Ian prides himself on bringing practical understanding to his work and his clients.
Outside of work, Ian likes to exercise regularly (bike riding and running mainly), experiment in the kitchen occasionally with something more than baked beans and sausages, practice on his electric guitar (luckily, he had the decency to get headphones), take his motorbike for a ride on a suitably windy country road, as well as embarking on myriad other projects that poke their way into his life.
Ian lives with his gorgeous partner Rose, Charlie and Daisy the dogs, and 2 chooks.
