In her role at Compact, Melanie assists clients with compliance and risk management in the areas of Australian financial services licensing, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, and trade practices.
Melanie first worked for Compact in 2008 and has recently returned to the firm.
She first worked with the principals of Compact, Tim Nethercote and Grant Holley, in the 1990s when they conducted a roadshow for staff of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. Melanie was involved with ASIC, the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA) and the Insurance and Superannuation Commission at various stages from 1994 to 1999.
Melanie then spent two years with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, three years as a senior adviser on consumer affairs to the Federal Opposition, and three years working in national security in the maritime and aviation sectors.
Until returning to work at Compact in 2010, Melanie was working at a large trade union providing members with advice in the areas of industrial relations law, Workcover, and occupational health and safety.
Melanie completed her Juris Doctor at RMIT.
Melanie loves travel to off-the-beaten-track places and recently visited Turkmenistan and Iran. Her other interests include music and wine.
